Evelyn Letsche

October 5, 1923 — January 3, 2015

Evelyn Letsche, 91 years old, of Marcus, and formerly Remsen, IA died Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus. 


           Funeral Service will be Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Dennis Martens officiating.  Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery.  Visitation will be anytime after 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2014.  There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.


            Evelyn Marie Klingbeil was born to Fred & Nancy (Miller) Klingbeil on October 5, 1923, at the Klingbeil Family Farm, rural Remsen. She was baptized February 10, 1924, and confirmed April 2, 1939, both at Christ Lutheran Church, Remsen, with her confirmation verse being Psalm 23:1.  After her graduation from Marcus High School in 1941, she worked for the Remsen Telephone Company.  On November 14, 1948, she was united in marriage with LeRoy Letsche at Christ Lutheran Church, Remsen.   The couple farmed southeast of Remsen until they moved to Remsen in 1978.  Together they raised 6 children.  In 1986, LeRoy passed away.  In 2000, she moved to Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen and in 2001 moved to Heartland Care Center in Marcus where she lived out her days. 


            Besides loving to spend time with her family, including 19 grandchildren, she enjoyed fishing, scrapbooking, gardening, growing flowers, especially irises, cake decorating, baking, bowling, puzzles, table games, and especially playing cards with the neighborhood card club for over 40 years.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen and active with the Ladies Aid.  Other groups she was involved with were the Happy Siesta Auxiliary and Women’s Bowling League.


            Survivors include; 3 sons: Vernon (Rita) of Remsen, Martin (Becky) of Remsen, Gary (Lynn) of Omaha NE;  3 daughters: Carol (Roger) Walker of Emmetsburg, Sue (Steve) Juenemann - Sanborn MN, Julie Nitzschke - LeMars; one brother: Harlan (Beverly) Klingbeil - LeMars; one sister-in-law: Arlene Wolf  of Remsen;  17 grandchilden: Kristina Letsche, Sarah (Daniel) Prevot, Paul (Lauren) Letsche, Lara Letsche, Karl Letsche, Katie Walker, Jordan Walker, Mollie Walker, Daniel (Jacquie Lonning) Letsche, Jason (Lindsay) Letsche, Emily (Matt) Bork, Amanda (Kody) Klein, Justin Nelson, Jesse Nitzschke, Alicia Letsche, Chase Letsche, Brett Letsche ; one great grandson:  Liam Letsche; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

            Preceded by: her parents, husband LeRoy Letsche, Sister & Brother-in-law Lois & Darrell Franklin, grandson Jeremy Letsche, granddaughter Anna Letsche, brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws and parents on LeRoy’s side.


            Casket Bearers will be Grandsons – Daniel Letsche, Jason Letsche, Paul Letsche, Justin Nelson, Karl Letsche, Jordan Walker, Jesse Nitzschke, Chase Letsche, Brett Letsche
