Florence Margaret Heidesch

Florence Margaret Heidesch, 96 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.          Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen.  Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.        Florence was born Nov. 1, 1914, at rural Howard, SD, the daughter of Philip & Katie (Tessman ) Calmus.  She was raised in the Howard area.  She graduated from Howard High School in 1934.  On June 1, 1938 she married Joseph Heidesch at Howard, SD.  Joe & Florence farmed southeast of Remsen until retiring in 1973.  Joe died July 28, 1986.        Florence was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church & church guild. Missionary Association, Happy Siesta Nursing Home Auxilary. Past member of Catholic Daughters of America.  Florence had a remarkable and fulfilling life.  Her work ethic and ability to reach out to others was unrelenting.  She was a never ending fount of joy, wisdom, strength and support to her family and in the lives of so many others.  She was an inspirational and loving mother, dependable and loyal sister, generous and enthusiastic grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated to her church, family and friends.  For many years she volumteered helping make altar breads, working with Oscar Cash and visiting the residents of Happy Siesta.  She loved having family activities. All will surely miss her.          Survivors include; Son, Richard, and his wife Anita of Goodyear, AZ, daughter Darlene Feller and her husband Marv of Shenandoah, IA, son, Ron and his wife Betty of Remsen, daughter, Joanne Cashman and her husband John of Mission Viejo, CA, daughter, Jan Bunkers and her husband Dave of Des Moines, IA, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one brother, George Calmus of Howard, SD.        Preceded by: her parents, two sisters, Sister Virginia Calmus & Sister Phyllis Marie Calmus, two brothers, Will Calmus & his wife Irene, Walt Calmus & his first wife Alice and second wife Kay.        Casket Bearers will be, Russ, Paul, Troy, Cary, Joe & Andy Heidesch, Mark, Jeff & Brad Feller, Brett, Zack & Luke Bunkers.
