Francis J. Murphy, 82 years old, of Granville, IA, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, IA.        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Richard Ball officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Granville.  Graveside military honors will be conducted by the veterans of Granville. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville.      Francis was born March 26, 1928, at rural Fulda, MN, the son of John and Rosa (Holinka) Murphy.  He was raised in Fulda area & attended a country school and St. Gabriel’s Catholic School in Fulda.  He then assisted his father in farming until he entered the US Navy on Feb. 21, 1952 and served until he was honorably discharged Oct. 11, 1959.      On Jan. 19, 1955 he married Marjorie Schuver at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville.  They made their home near Granville where they were engaged in farming for about one year.  They then moved to near Fulda, MN where they farmed for 15 years.  In 1971 they returned to the Granville area where they have since farmed.  Marge died July 23, 2006.      Francis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic’s Church & past member of Knights of Columbus.      Survivors include; six children, Ken and his wife Mary of Sheldon, IA, Tom and his wife Denise of Orange City, IA, Jeff and his wife Joyce of Granville, Mary Murphy and Les Ottolenghi of Atlanta, GA, Jim and his wife Sandi of Bondurant, IA, Tim and his wife Emily of Granville; Twelve grandchildren, one great-granddaughter. One sister, Rosie and her husband Jack Lehnoff of Russell, MN, one brother, Joe Murphy and his special friend Harriett Glackler of Cathedral City, CA. Two sisters-in-law, Gwen Schuver of Granville, Wanda Schuver of Sanborn, IA. Several nieces and nephews        Preceded by: his parents, one brother, John T. Murphy and his wife Celia, two brothers-in-law, Marcel and Ray Schuver, two nieces, Beverly Ann Schuver in infancy and Ellen Schuver, one great-niece, Morgan Schuver, one great nephew, Rustin Thooft.      Casket Bearers will be, Phil, Pat, Taylor, Michael, Christopher and Colby Murphy.      Honorary Bearers will be, Beth Prescott, Caitlin, Carli, Brandon, Megan, Delaney and Matthew Murphy.
