Gary Lee Miller, 63, of Remsen, IA, passed away July 31, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7pm Thursday. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
Gary was born on January 17, 1954 to Lester and Marjorie (Parry) Miller. He attended Remsen St. Mary’s Catholic School where he graduated in 1972. After graduating high school, he attended a Heavy Equipment Operator program in Florida. He returned to Remsen following this to work on the farm with his dad and then took over when his dad retired.
Gary married Julie Bresnahan on September 17, 1983. They resided on the farm south of Remsen and raised four children together. He was so proud of his children and family meant everything to him.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Gary loved working on the farm, taking care of the land and livestock. He spent his time with family and friends and always had time for a Sunday drive. He always loved to talk and made others feel welcome.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, daughters: Sharon Miller (Omaha, NE), and Emily Miller (Lincoln, NE), his sons: Blake and Jackie Miller (Remsen, IA), and Jordan Miller (Remsen, IA); His sister-in-law Karen Bresnahan (Evergreen, CO), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Scott and Gaylin Bresnahan (Sioux City, IA); 2 nieces and a nephew and a great-niece and a great- nephew; plus numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Marjorie Miller, his sister, Sharon Rae Miller, and his in-laws, Richard and Gloria Bresnahan.
