Helen Jacobs, 92 of Remsen, IA, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 surrounded by her family at Floyd Valley Health Care in LeMars, IA.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen, with Pastor Garret Kasper officiating. Burial will follow at the Remsen Cemetery. Visitation with family present, keeping to social distancing restrictions will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Helen was born on Aug. 3, 1928 in Elgin, IA the daughter of John and Ida (Fischer) Pulfer. She attended school in a country schoolhouse.
After school she married Jack Jacobs in Sioux City, IA on Aug. 24, 1948. They resided there for 10 years before making their home in Remsen in 1958.
Once settled in Remsen they purchased the Top Hat which she owned until the late 1970’s. She then worked at Ruth’s Café until she retired at the age of 89.
She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen. Helen enjoyed drinking wine with friends, spending time with her family and even sponsored a bowling team. She also loved her flowers and decorating her yard.
Helen is survived by her three children; Becky (Dave) Poeckes of Remsen, Jack (Diane) Jacobs, Pam (Tracy) Warner both of Clarinda, IA; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Greg, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Casket bearers will be Chris Cook, Chad Poeckes, Steve Jacobs, Brian Jacobs, Tanner Poeckes and Devin Sailor.
Honorary bearers will be Michelle Poeckes, Shawn Schroeder and Megan Elliott.
