Irene Hildebrandt, 82, of Remsen, IA, passed away on May 9, 2026, at Orange City Area Heath System.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, with Pastor Ken Kraft officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 10:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. www.fischfh.com
Irene Louise Hildebrandt was born to Otto & Viola (Nicloy) Hildebrandt on January 21, 1944, while the family lived on a farm in Rural Steen, MN. When Irene was 2 years old the family moved to Hills, MN and then to Pipestone, MN in 1949. This is where she was raised and educated graduating in 1962.
After graduation she entered the work force and lived in Luverne, MN. In 1982 she moved to Remsen where she spent the last 44 years devoted to the love of her life John Cook till her passing. She worked at K Products then Staples in Orange City, Iowa as an Inspector for 32 years.
In Irene’s free time she enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with her family and friends at the lake. She was a very kind and caring person who loved spending time with her dog Sadee. Irene was known for her talent of finding that special gift for family meant just for them. She always made time to spend one on one with young niece and nephews who loved her very much.
She is lovingly remembered by her partner, John Cook of Remsen, IA; brothers, Cecil (Elaine) Hildebrandt of Sioux Falls, SD and Paul (Brenda) Hildebrandt of Denver, CO; sisters, Linda (Gary) Top and Debbie (Donald) Kruger all of Luverne, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Hildebrandt of Pipestone, MN; her in-laws, Janice (Dennis) Schorg and Linda (Mike) Klein both of Remsen, IA; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents. Otto Hildebrandt and Viola Hildebrandt Daniels; sisters, Katherine (Cornelius) Klumper, Loretta (Pat) Cadam; brother, John Hildebrandt; parents-in-law, Glen & Mary Cook; brother-in-law, Jim Cook; nephews Travis Kruger, Rick Schorg, Pat Schorg and Mike Schorg; nieces, Cynthia Moore and Anita Schorg Gruhn.
Casket bearers will be Mike Ruden, Jerry Braun, Josh & Amy Pick, Anna & Tim Fink.
