Ivy P. Wieck, 96 years old, of Remsen, IA died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.
Funeral Service will be Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Ivy was born May 11, 1914 at Roseview Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Gustavious & Caroline (Adler) Thompson. She was raised in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada where she attended school. When she graduated high school, she came to the United States with two of her sisters Lena who already lived here and Murl.
On Dec. 4, 1935 she married Elmer Wieck, between this union they had one daughter. They farmed various farms around the Correctionville and Pierson area. They retired and moved to Remsen in 1979. Elmer worked for Mid Sioux for a short time. Elmer passed away Oct. 9, 2000. Ivy remained in her home until May 2010 when she entered the Happy Siesta Health Care Center.
She had several hobbies which include, sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking. She spent a lot of time making slippers for soldiers (over 600 Pairs) for the American Legion in LeMars.
Survivors include: Her daughter Bonna Jeanne Weinreich and her grandson Patrick J. Weinreich both of Remsen.
Preceded by: her parents, one grandson Steven Lynn Weinreich, her son-in-law Val H. Weinreich, one brother, Milo Thompson & his wife Mary, six sisters, Alma Babcock & her husband Art, Gladys Tobin & her husband Sollie, Laura Meeker & her husband Glenn, Lena Conry & her husband Ernie, Helen Boyd & her husband John, Murl Conry & her husband Floyd.
Casket Bearers Will Be: Fred Ahlers, Terri Garvin, Dennis, Kory & Kurtis Kroeger.
