James “Jim” Michael Budden, age 71 of Granville, IA was born into eternal life on Saturday October 5, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, IA, with Father Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. There will be a parish rosary and a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at the Church in Granville. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.
Jim was born on August 15th, 1948 to Roman & Bertille (Plathe) Budden in LeMars. He was raised in Granville, went to St. Joseph School, and graduated from Spalding Catholic High School in 1966. He lived in Granville, worked at Harolds 66 gas station in Sheldon and later worked for Budden Oil Co. Jim co-owned the Triple Crown with Gordon Schneider and Tom Meis. He received an education from NCC with an electro-mec degree. Jim served on the Granville Fire Department as a volunteer in the 1970s.
Jim married Rhonda Kosters on November 27, 1982 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA. They worked together to run the Home Plate Cafe in 1985. After selling their successful business they continued to operate Home Plate Catering which they still own today.
Jim was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. Jim’s hobbies include golfing and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his dog (Buddy), rooting on his favorite sports teams, and traveling with his wife and close friends.
Surviving to honor his memory is his spouse Rhonda, of Granville, son, Ross of Ankeny, Iowa and special friend Claire; four brothers, Terry (Arlene) Budden of Spirit Lake, IA, Tom (Mary) Budden, Gerry (Betty) Budden all of Granville and Gary (Deb) Budden of Omaha, NE; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman & Bertille Budden.
