He spent the first 10 years of his life on a farm just north of Remsen with his parents, two sisters, Grandpa Boever, and Grandpa Robinette. In 1939, the family moved to a farm one mile east of Remsen. It was on this farm that Jim spent the rest of his life.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing growing up. He was educated at Remsen St. Mary’s. He participated in baseball and basketball while in high school. It was at a basketball game in 1947 where he was introduced to a young cheerleader named Jeanette Heidesch. Jim and Jeanette dated until she graduated from high school in May of 1949. He shared his passion for fishing with his family which included many wonderful family fishing trips and countless fish tales.
Jim was very active in the Remsen community. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and until his death, was their oldest living member. He was also a member of the Lions Club.
