Jane Marie Hinspeter

Jane Marie Hinspeter, 71, of Marcus, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating, Rev. Eugene Murray concelebrating and Deacon Jerry Bertrand assisting. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 4:15p.m. until 7 p.m, rosary at 4 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church in Marcus. Jane Marie Probst was born June 27, 1954 to Milo and Tarsella “Sally” (Pottebaum) Probst. She was raised and educated in Alton, Iowa, graduating from Spalding Catholic High School in 1972. She continued her education at NCC graduating with a degree in clerical work.

Jane married Francis Hinspeter on September 1, 1973 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa. The couple began their lives farming together in Alton and moved to Marcus, Iowa in 2002. Over the years Jane worked at the OK Cafe, K-Products, Marcus Vet, cleaned the rectory for Holy Name Catholic Church and was her husband’s farming partner.

Jane was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Marcus Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, having coffee with friends, taking a drive on Sunday afternoons, riding bikes, swimming and giving her former Vet clients a rough time. She most importantly loved her family and spending time with them and her friends. She was dedicated to her faith and praying the rosary.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Francis Hinspeter of Marcus, IA; children; Brian (Laura) Hinspeter of Waukee, IA, Lori (Leo) Schwarz of Marcus, IA, Joanie (Brad) Taylor of Buffalo, IA, Brent (Nicole) Hinspeter of Coleridge, NE, Blaine Hinspeter of Remsen, IA.

Grandchildren; Brenden, Brody and Jenna Hinspeter, Tyler Frederes, Taylor and Dillon Schwarz, Ethan, Rece, Cora and Corbin Taylor, Josey, Bodhi, Harvey and Archie Hinspeter.

Her siblings, Gordie (Marilyn) Probst, Eileen (Gary) Holzman, Claris (Robert) Varenhorst, Anita (Alex) Heyman and Keith (Jennifer) Probst; sister-in-law, Donna Hinspeter.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gina Hinspeter; grand-daughter, Amber Frederes; parents, Milo and Sally Probst; brothers, Harvey and Joseph Probst; parents-in-law, Ronald and Francella Hinspeter; brother-in-law, Paul Hinspeter.

Casket bearers will be Tyler Frederes, Brenden Hinspeter, Brody Hinspeter, Dr. Bruce Tabke, Kory Kroeger, Paul Wilkins and Matthew Peck.

Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.
