Jeannie F. Theis, 62 of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
Funeral Service will be Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Hospers, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen.
Jeannie was born Sept. 21, 1951, at LeMars, IA the daughter of Robert and Joan (Treinen) Bachmann. She was raised and educated in Granville and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and Spalding Catholic graduating 1969.
She married LeRoy Theis on Aug. 29, 1970. The couple made their home near Hospers where they farmed. Together they raised four sons. In the summer of 1982 she was involved in a car accident that left her a quadriplegic. She then stayed home and focused on raising her children. In 1997 she attended college at NITCC in Sheldon and then attended Briar Cliff in Sioux City receiving a degree in Social Work.
Jeannie loved to laugh, listen to music, spending time in the sun, she also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her dog Allie. She has overcome so many obstacles in her life and has been an inspiration to all that have met her.
Survivors include; her four sons, Jay (Monica) Theis of Sheldon, IA, Jerry Theis and his fiancé Michelle Dietrich of Laurel, NE, Larry (Rashelle) Theis of Johnston, IA; Terry (Carolyn) Theis of Sioux City, IA; nine grandchildren; her dog Allie; three sisters, Mary (Alvin) Wolf of Henderson, NV, Janet (Don) Loutsch of LeMars, IA, Joyce (John) Fuxa of Sioux City, IA; two brothers, Dennis (Kim) Bachmann, Thomas (Brenda) Bachmann all of Montpelier, VA.
Preceded by: her parents, two brothers, Christopher in infancy and Roger Bachmann.
Casket Bearers will be Josh Fuxa, Mark Loutsch, Lee and Eric Harpenau, Ross and Austin Budden.
Donations may be given to Three Rivers Independent Living Center in Sioux City, IA.
