Joan Alyce Niichel

Joan Alyce Niichel, 83 years old, of Granville, IA, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.  

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, 2022 at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen with Fr. Daniel Greving officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville, IA.  Visitation with family present will be from 10 A.M -11 A.M. on Friday.

Joan was born Nov. 7, 1938 in Guttenburg, IA, the daughter of Roland & Evelyn (VanHorne) Bormann.  Joan attended NTC in Sheldon, IA to further her nursing education.  

On Aug. 17, 1968 she married Michael Niichel at Indianola, IA.  The couple made their home near Granville.  Together they raised four children.  Joan worked as a RNA in long term care.  Mike passed away on Sept. 25, 2011.

Joan enjoyed playing the piano, puzzles, cooking, animals, she especially loved her cats.  She was generous and caring with a special place in her heart for the elderly.

Survivors include her four children, Danielle Niichel of Remsen, IA, Wayne (Lynn) Niichel of Brandon, SD, Ann (Matt) Redinius of Kingsley, IA, Annette (John) Ouverson of Urbandale, IA; eight grandchildren, Allyson, Tristen, Brayden, Payton, Emily, Rylann, Jacob and Jaxson; great-grandchild, Tanner.

She in preceded by her parents; her husband Michael; her infant granddaughter, Dena Niichel.
