JoAnn Nitzschke 86, of Remsen, ended her journey surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 6, 2018 at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, IA.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church LCMS in Remsen. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
JoAnn was born on Nov. 30, 1931 to Leo and Ann (Ludwig) Gengler in Remsen, IA. She was raised and educated in Remsen, graduating in 1949 from St. Mary’s Catholic School.
On June 30, 1955 she married Donald Nitzschke at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen. She was employed at various business in Remsen throughout the years. Donald passed away in 2000.
JoAnn enjoyed spending time with her children, grand children and great-grand-children. She also enjoyed gambling, reading and sitting in the sun. Over the years she loved to travel with family and friends, and having coffee with her neighbors.
She is survived by her children, Keith Nitzschke of Lake Park, IA. Karen (Steve) Colling of Remsen, Gary Nitzschke of Remsen, Jay (Carol) Nitzschke of Remsen, Jeannie (Dan) Crouch of Spencer, Ia. 9 grand children and 4 Great grand children, Brothers, Daryl (Kay) Gengler of Okoboji, IA. Marv (Ann) Gengler of Boone, IA. Paul (Jeanette) Gengler of Des Moines, and a sister-in-law Mary Gengler. Special dear friends, Mary Carey of Loveland CO. and Delia Homan of Remsen, IA.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, sister Ethel (Paul) Kosse and brother Donald Gengler.
