JoAnn “Tudy” Plathe, 74 years old, of Granville, IA, died Firday, April 12, 2013, at her home in Granville surrounded by her entire family.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Granville. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
JoAnn was born Jan. 13, 1939, at LeMars, IA, the daughter of, Joseph and Helen (Reith) Schuster. She was raised and educated in Granville. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1957. She then worked at LeMars Hospital as nurse’s aid.
On April 15, 1958 she married Mark Plathe at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. The couple made their home in Granville until 1961 when they moved to the family farm south of Granville where they raised three children. They moved back into Granville in 2001.
She was a member of St Joseph's Church, church guild and Catholic Daughters of America. She was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, working outside and taking care of her grandchildren.
Survivors include; her husband of 55 years, Mark of Granville; three children, Randy (Jeri) Plathe of Granville, and their sons Justin, Jordan and Jared; Tim (Mary) Plathe of Granville and their children, Jennifer, Lacey, Paula and Paul; LeAnn (Leon) Kleinhesselink of Alton, and their children, Cordell (Ashley) and their child Camden, Jesse and Jamie; her sister, Marlene Kuiper of Omaha, NE; her sister-in-law, Norma Schuster of LeMars, IA; two brothers-in-law, Maro (Rosalie) Plathe of Granville, Virgil (Joyce) Plathe of Alton, IA.
Preceded by: her parents, her step father, John Niichel, three brothers, Hilary and Bobbie in infancy, and Orville Schuster; brother-in-law, Brian Kuiper, sister-in-law, Bertille Gergen, nephew Robbie Plathe, two brothers-in-law, Nick Gergen and Roman Budden.
Casket Bearers will be, Cordell and Jesse Kleinhesselink, Justin, Jordan, Jared and Paul Plathe.
