Joanne Schlichte, age 68 of Orange City, Iowa, passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at her home in Orange City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa, with the Rev. Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Granville. Visitation with family present will be 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Friday at the church. Joanne was born October 16, 1957, at Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Dolores "Dolly" (Haag) Schlichte. She was raised in the Granville area, and graduated from Floyd Valley High School in 1976. She later attended NCC in Sheldon and graduated in 2000. She held many jobs over the years, most recently at Dutch Mart In Orange City. In her younger years she was a nanny in New York for 5 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved her cat, reading, fishing and nature photography.
Survivors include her Mother, Dolly Schlichte of Granville, IA; three brothers, Jeffery Schlichte of Springfield, MO, Jim (Jeannie) Schlichte of Granville, IA, and Ronald (Tracey) Schlichte of Osceola, IA; three sisters, Sylvia Busby of Alton, IA, Debra (Mohamed) Ben Saida of Granville, IA and Heidi Feldhaus of Alton, IA.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father Cliff Schlichte; brothers, Donald Schlichte at birth, Larry Schlichte; brother-in-law Patrick Busby; 2 sisters-in- law, Judy Schlichte and Heidi Anne Schlichte; and her niece, Cassie Schlichte.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
