Marcus, Iowa – Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Ann Johnson, 79, of rural Marcus, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus, IA. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 am Tuesday January 7, 2020 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father William McCarthy will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Kathy’s family has entrusted Earnest - Johnson Funeral Home of Marcus with the arrangements.

Kathleen Ann Rassel was born April 8, 1940 in Marcus, Iowa to Frank & Fern (Peck) Rassel. Kathy married Harold L. Johnson on February 7, 1959, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 20 years at Farmer’s Co-Op. Kathy had many hobbies which included playing cards, puzzles, baking, bowling, sewing, quilting and most importantly her grandkids and their activities. She was a life-long member of Holy Name Catholic Church and had an extensive teddy bear collection.

She will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Becky Letsche and her husband Roger of Scurry, Texas; son; Greg Johnson of Correctionville, IA; a daughter, Amy Johnson of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren; Katie (Matt) Hinders, Andrew (Chebrai) Johnson, Alexa (Joshua) Hummel, Matthew Johnson, Luke Letsche and Taylor (Jacob Mauldin) Johnson-Ganter; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Nancy) Rassel of Marcus, IA and Wayne Rassel of Le Mars, IA; sister; Norma (Jon) Bushman of Park City, MTand several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, Alan Johnson; sister, Mary Brownmiller; and brothers, Floyd, Charles, Tom, and Laurence Rassel.
