Joseph Allen Staab, 55 of Remsen, IA passed away, Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at his home near Remsen, IA after a year and a half battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, there will be a rosary by the Catholic Order of Foresters at 5p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Joe was born on Dec. 28, 1961 to Roman and Maxine (Berendes) Staab in Remsen, IA. He was raised on the farm north of Remsen, IA. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1980. He then began farming with his Dad and his brothers. Joe lived on the Staab Century Farm north of Remsen.
Joe was a member of the St Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. He also served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator Board. He loved Dale Earnhardt, NASCAR, bowling, throwing darts, rolling over the calendar, feeding cattle and farming.
Survivors include: his three brothers, Jim (Rosie) Staab, Jerry (Barb) Staab both of Remsen, Pat (Claudette) Staab of Marcus, IA; four nieces and seven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, Joe & Regina Staab, maternal grandparents, Guido & Edith Berendes.
Casket bearers will be John Staab, Nick Staab, Mark Staab, Michael Staab, Matt Staab, Jeff Staab and Russell Staab.
Honorary Bearers will be the Catholic Order of Foresters.
