Joseph “Joe” Paul Dreckman, age 65, of Marcus, IA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday Jan. 15, 2026 at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD due to injuries sustained from a fall.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Jerry Bertrand assisting. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, with a vigil prayer service at 7 P.M. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus, IA. www.fischfh.com
Joe was born on April 1, 1960 in Le Mars, IA the son of Jim & Eleanor (Schwarz) Dreckman. He was raised in Marcus and received his education from Marcus High School. He then attended NCC in Sheldon, IA for auto mechanics. Over the years he worked at K-Products, MercyOne Hospital and finished his career at Heartland Care Center in Marcus where he retired on Feb. 28, 2025. He continued to be the local handyman in the area where he enjoyed doing numerous jobs for people around Marcus.
On Nov. 14, 1992 he married Gloria Medick at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, IA.
Joe was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He loved riding his trike motorcycle with Gloria and especially spending time with his family. He loved his Mt. Dew, peanut M & M’s and chocolate covered almonds. He also enjoyed playing Dummy Rummy.
Joe is survived by his wife Gloria of Marcus, IA; his children, Heather (Jeff) Fox of Marcus, IA, Jason Brees of Meriden, IA, Heidi Dreckman (Mike) of Le Mars, IA, Holly (Jaek) Runner of Papillion, NE; 6 grandchildren, Lexi, Brayden, Jaxon, Jenna, Jordan; his mother, Eleanor Dreckman of Marcus, IA; his siblings, Len Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Rick (Sue) Dreckman of Kansas City, MO, Steve (Stacy) Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Patty Fasteson of Middletown, DE, Doug (Barb) Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Tim (Lori) Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Donna Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Bryan Dreckman of Virginia Beach, VA, Cheryl (Phil) Carter of Waverly, NE, Monte (Darcy) Dreckman of Marcus, IA, Bruce (Danae) Dreckman of Marcus, IA; sisters-in-law, Margaret Jellings of Waterloo, IA, Sharon Watts of Cherokee, IA, Norma (Phil) Bush of Cleghorn, IA, Deb Medick of Cherokee, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Jim Dreckman; his grandson, Trevor Boldra; parents-in-law, Norman & Colleen Medick; brothers-in-law, Harold Medick & Larry Watts; nephew, Cole Runyan; great-nephew, Keatan Dreckman.
Casket bearers will be, Len, Rick, Steve, Doug, Tim, Bryan, Monte, Bruce Dreckman and Willy Lukins.
