June Elizabeth Schiltz, age 93 of Remsen, IA, died January 4, 2020 at Orange City Area Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with Father William McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a parish rosary and a vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
June was born on June 3, 1926 to Herman & Lillian (Niichel) Boever in Granville, Iowa.
She married Richard Schiltz on November 18, 1946 and made their home near Remsen where they were engaged in farming. They moved into town in 1973. June worked for Schaaf’s Hardware until they closed in 1985. She then did daycare in her home until 1990 and started working at Remsen Hardware until December 2011. Rich died Nov. 21, 2001. She moved into Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in June 2012.
June was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Church guild and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling with her lady friends and being with and praying for her family.
June is survived by 5 sons, Gary (Mona) of Craig, IA, Steve of Remsen and special friend Kathy Johnson of Kingsley, IA, Jim (Diana) of Casa Grande, AZ, Bill (Karna) of Hinton, IA, Doug of West Des Moines, IA, 2 daughters, Karen (Bob) Fiedler and Mary (Randy) Stoos all of Remsen; 25 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Molly Boever of Le Mars, IA, Judy (Bill) Pover of Farley, IA, Becky (Dean) Norris of Arcadia, CA, 2 brothers, Jim (Phyllis) Boever of Davenport, IA, and Tom (Mary Ann) Boever of Dubuque, IA, and 3 sister-in-laws, Fern Boever, Karen Boever, and Pat Schiltz.
June was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, son Eugene, daughter-in-law Pam Schiltz, great grandson Aric Orban, brothers, Maurice, Donald, Boniface and Pat; sisters, Mary Lee Lange, and Marge Willcoxson; sister-in-law Marce Boever and brothers-in-law Bob Willcoxson and Earl Lange and numerous nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers will be Chad Fiedler, Matt Schiltz, Drew Schiltz, Owen Schiltz, Brian Schiltz, Robert Schiltz, Jackie Sidney and Tate Tentinger.
