Kathleen Groepper, 82 years old, of Ames, IA and formerly of Remsen died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Northcrest Community in Ames, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating & Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., followed by a vigil prayer service all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, family will be present from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Kathleen was born on Feb. 8, 1932, at Remsen, IA the daughter of Dominic & Catherine (Niehus) Loutsch. She was raised and educated in the Remsen area and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.
On May 28, 1951 she married Kenneth Groepper at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. The couple made their home near Remsen where they farmed until retiring and moving into Remsen April 5, 1995. Kennneth died Jan. 29, 1999. Kathleen moved to Ames in Dec. 2007.
Kathleen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen and church guild. She enjoyed gardening, baking, helping others and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: her eight children, Rich (Lynnette) Groepper of Union, IA, Ron (Colleen) Groepper of Sacramento, CA, Jim (Patty) Groepper, Deb Beelner all of Ames, IA, Jerry (Barb) Groepper of Kelley, IA, Tom (Lisa) Groepper of Council Bluffs, IA, Dan (Kristin) Groepper of Urbandale, IA, Janet (Brian) Wildeboer of Ames, IA; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Norma Tentinger of Remsen, Dale (Joyce) Loutsch of Remsen, Paul (Lavonne) Loutsch of Remsen, Vernon (Marge) Loutsch of LeMars, IA, Collete (Farrell) Wright of Moville, IA, Alice Seuntjens of Kingsley, IA; One sister-in-law, Alice Shanahan of South Sioux City, NE;
Preceded in death by, her parents, three brothers, John (Cleo) Loutsch, Gene (Mary) Loutsch, Art (Dorothy) Loutsch, one sister, Delores (Alvin) Groepper.
Casket Bearers will be Nathan, Scott and Corey Groepper, Brent Beelner, Nick and Jack Groepper, Jonathan Wildeboer.
