Kevin was born Sept. 9, 1960, in Sheldon, IA, the son of Orville and Marlys (Seivert) Gramlow. He was raised in Remsen, IA, and received an education at Remsen Union Schools, graduating in 1978.
He married his beautiful wife, Donna Ream, on April 19, 1980, at Christ Lutheran Church, making their home in Remsen, IA. Kevin had many interests and hobbies, including snowmobiling, motorcycles, and collecting Hot Wheels and old toys. But his favorite pastime was being in the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren. He worked for Wells Dairy for 40 years until his retirement in September of 2022.
Kevin, more known as Gumby, valued and cherished his family immensely. Nothing–absolutely nothing—was more vital to him than his wife, children, sister, grandchildren, and friends. He was always proud of any and everything his family accomplished.
Gumby enjoyed his trips to Florida with his wife, where he soaked up quality time with his sister Kim, his brother-in-law, and his niece and nephews.
There were always two places you could find him in his house…the garage with his wife and family or on his chair with his dogs. And if Gumby wasn’t home…his kids and grandchildren would see him driving his old Ford Explorer with the windows down…making sure the town was in check.
Gumby had a chuckle anyone could detect and sarcastic remarks that only his mind could conjure. He never lived an ordinary life; whether he was with his wife, children, or friends, he was always doing something fulfilling….and lived vicariously.
But most importantly, he had the kindest soul, loved fiercely, and protected his family without hesitation.
He never met a stranger. Every person in the world, to him, could come to him a stranger and leave as a friend. He could see the best in people when no one else could…..because judgment was never his style.
Survivors include, his wife, Donna of Remsen, IA; his four children, Shonden (Nick) Wurth of Remsen, IA, Branden Gramlow of Largo, FL, Brent Gramlow of Remsen, IA, Brice Gramlow of Remsen, IA; 5 grandchildren, Ashton (Garret) Schroeder, Brooklyn Frederes (Andrew Prescott), Peyton Frederes, Jaiden Gramlow, Dawson Gramlow; 4 great-grandchildren, Sloan, Gia, Oveah, Kamari; his sister, Kim (Chris) Pierce of Largo, FL; niece, Kaylee Pierce (Keary Britt); nephews, Caden and Cody Pierce; great-niece, Riley Paige Britt.
