Kim Ann Daum, a devoted mother and a tireless worker for her community, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Marcus, Iowa. Kim was a woman of quiet strength who spent her life looking out for everyone else. She lived with a simple, honest kindness and a heart that was always focused on her family.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, Orange City, IA with Pastor Thomas Batchelder. Burial to follow the lunch, at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Marcus, IA. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus with family present 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7p.m. led by Pastor Kaldahl. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service on Thursday. Services entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus, IA.
Kim Ann Alesch was born on November 16, 1956, Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars, the daughter of James and Margaret (Kellen) Alesch. She was raised and educated in Marcus, IA graduating in 1975 from Marcus High School.
As a mother of four, her biggest source of pride was watching her kids succeed and seeing the ways they gave back to their own communities. She was the anchor of the family, raising her children to care about faith, education, and helping others. Kim was known for her infectious laugh, her great sense of humor, and her ability to find something to be thankful for in any situation.
For many years, Kim worked as a legal assistant at Klay, Veldhuizen, Bindner, and DeJong in Alton and Orange City. She was a familiar face to many, helping her neighbors with their legal and tax needs. Her faith was very important to her; she was a long-standing member of Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City.
Kim loved camping with friends and family and hosting everyone for the holidays. She was famous for her Christmas tradition of setting the table with a special plate and cup for every single child and grandchild, making sure each person knew they had a place where they belonged.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Mike (Darcie) Olson of Remsen, IA, Jackie Olson of Orange City, IA, Matthew (Anne) Olson of Urbandale, IA, Kristi (Mitch) Langschwager of Aurelia, IA; grandchildren, Tristen (Graci) Olson, Faith (Ryan) Hurd, Isabelle Olson (Drew), Sean, Paige and Beau Olson, Clara, Nolan and Ella Olson, Kadence, Laeton, Addilyn, Kollyns and Ryden Langschwager; one great-granddaughter, Ellie Hurd.
She will also be missed by her siblings, Kirk Alesch of Marcus, IA, Kelli (John) Plumb of Carlisle, IA, Kay Schat of Marcus, IA, Kris (Lisa) Alesch of Early, IA, Ken (Melanie) Alesch of Le Mars, IA, Keith Alesch of Le Mars, IA, Karla Solko (Bruce) of Aurelia, IA, Kory (Jamie) Alesch of Remsen, IA; along with aunts, uncles and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Meg Alesch; brother, Kevin Alesch and five infant siblings.
Casket Bearers will be Mike Olson, Matthew Olson, Mitch Langschwager, Tristen Olson, Laeton Langschwager and Nolan Olson.
Honorary Bearers will be Sean Olson, Beau Olson and Ryden Langschwager.
