Lavonne Clara Fiedler, age 95 of Remsen, Iowa died Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Accura Healthcare Cherokee, Iowa.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Oyens, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, there will be a rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, www.fischfh.com
Lavonne was born July 5, 1930 to Edward and Mary (Boever) Kunkel in Marion Township of Plymouth County. She was raised in areas of Alton, Kingsley and Remsen, IA. She received her education in Kingsley and Remsen.
Lavonne married Roman Fiedler on May 13, 1953 at Alton, IA. She farmed with Roman by Oyens, IA from 1953 to 1966. In 1966 they moved to Storm Lake, and in 1974 they moved to Remsen, IA. Lavonne worked various full-time jobs while raising her children.
Lavonne was a member of Remsen St. Mary’s Church, and an honorary member of Shepherd of Peace, Sgt. Bluff, IA. She was a member of Catholic Daughters and VFW Auxiliary.
She was well known for her Rag Rugs and Embroidered Dish Towels. She enjoyed quilting, putting puzzles together, reading, making pies, and listening to music especially polka and The Lawrence Welk Show. The time she valued most was time spent with family and friends especially her coffee group.
Survived by her children, Donna (Paul) Feller of Aurora, CO, Gary (Barb) Fiedler of Greeley, CO, son-in-law, John Deman of Cherokee, IA, Rick Fiedler of Storm Lake, IA, Bonnie (Chuck) Hahn of Struble, IA, Loren (Julie) Fiedler of Storm Lake, IA, Dale (Sheila) Fiedler of Hospers, IA, Floyd (Debbie) Fiedler of LeMars, IA, Gail (Steve) Thill of Cherokee, IA, Carl (Lisa) Fiedler of LeMars, IA, John Fiedler of Remsen, IA; Twyla (Todd) Lindsey of Sgt. Bluff, IA, Todd (Sara) Fiedler of Bardstown, KY, and daughter-in-law, Becky Fiedler of LeMars, IA; She had 38 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Barb Kunkel of Moville, IA and Vida Kunkel of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law Ray Cox of Thorton, CO; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Pam & Al Ott.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roman,; her mother and father-in-law, John and Elizabeth Fiedler; daughter, Vicky Deman; son, Jamie Fiedler; daughters-in-law, Stephanie Fiedler, Pam Fiedler and Shannon Fiedler; grandson, Shane Feller; great-grandson, Chance Pick; sisters, Lorna (Ronald) Loutsch, Pearl (Kunkel) Cox; brothers, Paul and Darrell Kunkel; sisters/brothers-in-law, Loretta (Cletus)Hansen, Sis- Hildegarde (Vince) Streff, Leona (Joe) Hoffman, Arnold (Kitty) Fiedler.
Casket bearers will be Jason Deman, Justin Fiedler, Dustin and Seth Thill, Chris Arens, Tyler Fiedler.
Honorary bearers will be John V Deman, Christopher Fiedler, Zach Fiedler, Eric Lindsey, Elijah Betterton, Jacob Fiedler.
