Lorna Mae Portz, 74 years old, of Hospers, IA died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at her home near Hospers, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation will be anytime after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Family will be present after 6 p.m. There will be a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA.
Lorna Mae was born on Oct. 1, 1940, at rural Hospers, IA, the daughter of Nick & Mary (Pottebaum) Portz. She was raised in the Hospers area and received her education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Hospers. She then stayed home to help her parents. She helped her mother with the garden and canning. She always enjoyed having flowers in the house.
Lorna Mae was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and church guild.
Survivors include: four sisters, Elvira (Ray) Youngers of Sun City West, AZ, Cordella (George) Hansen of Windom, MN, Charlotte Von Arb of Spring, TX, Flora (Nic) Hansen of Alton, IA.
Preceded in death by, her parents, two brothers, Bernard and Herbert Portz, one brother-in-law, “Bud” Everett Von Arb, nephews, Stanley Portz and Daryl Von Arb.
Casket Bearers will be: Chris & Ken Schmit, Paul Nilles & Andrew Nilles, Dennis Hansen & Gary Hansen
