Lorna Theresa Pick, age 96 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen, IA. where Family will celebrate her life as well as her 97th birthday. Burial services entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen, IA.
Lorna was born June 14, 1928, to Frank and Theresa Kestel in Remsen, Iowa. She grew up on her family‘s farm along with her seven siblings.
Lorna was educated in Remsen St. Mary’s Schools, graduating in 1946, followed by one year at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
Lorna married her high school sweetheart, John Pick, on November 17, 1948. They made their home in Remsen raising their four children, Toni, Randy, Keith, and Sheila.
Lorna spent many years caring for her home and children and eventually began working outside of the home. She was employed with a local insurance agency ultimately becoming co-owner of the business.
Lorna and John were very active in their community contributing to the Volunteer Fire Department, local government, and the VFW. They loved spending time with their friends golfing, playing card games, and going out to dinner. They spent many years enjoying Iowa Hawkeye football games with friends and family. Traveling to the Rose Bowl with their beloved Hawkeyes was such a thrill. They also enjoyed traveling to many interesting locations across the country as well as trips overseas. The thrill of planning the details of their annual two week road trip was something John and Lorna took very seriously, paying attention to every detail.
John passed away in 1992 and Lorna made the decision to move to Omaha in 1995 to be near her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being creative with crocheting and creating many beautiful projects. Her real passion was quilting, where she took on the task of creating a beautiful personalized quilt for each of her grandchildren upon their high school graduations. They are all so thankful for this cherished keepsake.
She also enjoyed her years of volunteering with Boys Town’s Hall of History as well as volunteering at Methodist Hospital’s gift shop.
Lorna was devoted to her faith, praying the rosary daily, sometimes more than once while sitting outside in the sun. Attending mass daily for many, many years was something she treasured.
Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, John; her daughter, Toni; and a great-granddaughter, Grace; as well as her parents, siblings and in-laws.
Lorna is survived by her children: Randy (Connie) Pick, Keith (Pam) Pick, Sheila (Jeff) Wilson and son-in-law, Tom Flaherty; grandchildren: Katie and Mark Murphy, Erin and Tim Berwick, Dan and Chris Flaherty, Chad Pick, Ryan and Megan Pick, Sara and Russ White, Ben and Bri Pick, Emily and Tyler Ramos, Chad and Stacy Nelson, and Adam and Kristen Nelson, Chris and Kari Wilson, Matt and Leslie Wilson, Jake Wilson. Her legacy also includes 28 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL was Saturday, May 24, 2025, 12:30PM, Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 3405 S. 118th St., Omaha, with VISITATION beginning at 11:30AM. A luncheon was held in the Mary Our Queen in the Kenny Center immediately following the Mass.
