Lyle Victor Scheitler was born November 26, 1950 at Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Alvin and Caroline (Zenk) Scheitler. He grew up in the Oyens area and graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1970.

On November 25, 1972, Lyle married Betty Ann Haring at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Oyens. To this union five children were born; Jason, Jed, Shelly, Carly and Jake.

From an early age, Lyle loved to ride and work on motorcycles.  He owned several Harley Davidson’s in his life and has two in the garage he wanted to ride again someday. Lyle was a hard-working man all his life and his love for raising hogs was something he would talk about often and with much pride. Above all, Lyle loved his wife, children and grandchildren, and we will all dearly miss his unpredictable comments and impressive memory of his childhood.

Lyle was a lifelong member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; five children, Jason (Andrea) Scheitler, and their children, Taylor and Brooke, of Brandon, South Dakota; Jed (Jeannie) Scheitler, and their children, Zander and Morgan, of Sioux Center, Iowa; Shelly (Dennis) Peterson, and their son, Austin Clay, of Seney, Iowa; Carly Olson (special friend Nick Peters), and her children, Dylan Bruhn, Landen Olson and Ava Olson, of Le Mars, Iowa; and Jake (Kimberly) Scheitler, and their children, Vivian and Eve, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; seven siblings, Stanley (Janice) Scheitler of Remsen, Iowa; Jeanette Schwartz (special friend Harry Sypersma) of Hinton, Iowa; Roger (Laurie) Scheitler of Las Vegas, Nevada; Judy (Bob) Campbell of Wichita, Kansas; Joann Hoffman of Akron, Iowa; Rose (David) Logan of Des Moines, Iowa; and Kris (Kelly) Mroczkowski of Johnston, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Lyle Scheitler, born still; his parents, Alvin and Caroline Scheitler; a grandson, Mitchel David Scheitler; brothers-in-law, Norman Schwartz, Donald Hoffman and Fred Haring; mother-in-law, Fern Haring; niece Jill Schwartz, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Lyle’s two brothers, three sons and son-in-law will be his pallbearers.
