Margaret Marie Grage, 96, of Remsen died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, IA.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. William McCarthy officiating and Deacon Rick Roder assisting. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday, with a parish rosary at 5 p.m. a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Margaret was born Feb. 20 1917, at rural Remsen, the daughter of John and Lena (Gengler) Nilles. She was raised in the Remsen area and attended rural and St. Mary’s Catholic School.
On July 13, 1943, she married Ray Grage at Remsen while he was in the military service. She lived with her parents until his discharge after which the couple farmed near Remsen from 1946 until retiring and moving into Remsen in January 1984. Ray died Oct. 16, 2001.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and church guild. She loved dancing, knitting, quilting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, canning and baking. She was just an all around kind hearted person.
Survivors include her son Gary and his wife Rosie of Kingsley, IA; 5 grandchildren, Amy (Dave) TenNapel and their children Kayla, Stephany, Derek and Morgan, Gina (Chad) Ruhland and their children Kennedy, Abby and Ella, all of LeMars, IA, Lea (Troy) Morris and their children Alexis, Lillian and London of Altoona, IA, Lewis (Kara) Grage and their children Nolan and Kenna of Remsen, Laura Grage of Altoona, IA; 1 sister, Phyllis Jaminet of Cherokee, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, one son, Dale Grage, one granddaughter, Gwen Grage, 2 brothers, Ted (Julia) Nilles and another at birth, 3 sisters, Martha (Marvin) Kohn, Mary Ann (Lester) Bush, and another at birth.
Casket bearers will be, Amy and Dave TenNapel, Gina and Chad Ruhland, Lea and Troy Morris, Lewis and Kara Grage and Laura Grage.
