Marie Nacke, 92 years old, of Remsen, IA, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009. There will be a parish rosary at 3:00 p.m., and a vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Marie was born August 26, 1917 on the family farm near Remsen, the daughter of Gustave and Anna (Erdmann) Rosburg.
Marie was raised in the Remsen area and received her first six years of education in the rural school system, grades seven and eight at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Remsen and her high school education at Remsen Public School from which she graduated in 1935. She enjoyed playing the piano and in her earlier years did so with her brother in his band, the Lyle Ross Band. On July 8, 1940, she married Frank Nacke Jr. at Remsen. They made their home near Remsen where they were engaged in farming. In 1963 they moved into Remsen and purchased Johnson’s Café, renaming it Frank’s Place. Frank died Jan. 21, 1999. Marie continued to operate their business until Dec. 1, 2003. She had been a resident of Happy Siesta since Dec. 3, 2003.
She was a member of Remsen St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Church Guild and Ladies V. F. W. Auxiliary of Remsen.
Marie is survived by two sons and their wives, Tom and LaNette of Culleoka, TN and Gerry and Peg of Remsen; five grandchildren, Dan Nacke & Sherry & their daughter Jasmine of Remsen, Theresa Brownmiller & her husband Brent & their children Josie & James of LeMars, IA, Lisa Cameron & her husband Jim & their children Blake & Lexi, Greg Nacke & his daughter Lauren, Steve Nacke & his wife Melissa & their daughter Allie all of Remsen;
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lyle and his wife Lorraine Rosburg..
Casket Bearers will be Dan Nacke, Greg Nacke, Steve Nacke, Brent Brownmiller, Jim Cameron, Blake Cameron and Josie Brownmiller.
