Marlys Ann Auchstetter, 75 years old, of Hospers, IA died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, after a brief illness at her home in Hospers, IA. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers with Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011. There will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA. Marlys was born on Oct. 1, 1935, at rural Ashton, IA, the daughter of Greg & Kathryn (Poss) Wallrich. She was raised in the Ashton area graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Ashton in 1953. After high school she worked at JC Penny’s in Sheldon, IA. On Nov. 13, 1956 she married Marvin Auchstetter in Ashton. The couple lived in Sheldon & Hospers before making their home on the farm. They retired and moved into Hospers in 1996. Marlys was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church & church guild, bible study & helped with the cookie bake. She enjoyed traveling to foreign countries with her husband & in-laws. She also liked gardening, reading & going shopping. Survivors include: her husband, Marvin of Hospers; Four children, Steven Auchstetter & his wife Mary, Susan Jungers & her husband Mike all of Hospers, Lori Auchstetter of Colorado Springs, CO, Karen Keech & her husband Kent of Story City, IA; Eight grandchildren, Angela, Nic, Jenny & Grace Auchstetter, Andrew, Ben & Justin Jungers, Josh Klein; Three sisters, Arlene Peluso & her husband Ray of Oceanside, CA, Eva Prendergast & her husband Jim of Saco, ME, Sharon Wallrich of Tuscon, AZ; One brother, Mike Wallrich & his wife Sandy of Eugene, OR; One sister-in-law, Marcene Moran & her husband Fran of Sioux Fall, SD; One brother-in-law, James Auchstetter & his wife Louise of Hospers; numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by, her parents, one sister, Donna Vanek, one brother, Tony Wallrich & his wife Kathy, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Becker & her husband Vincent. Casket Bearers will be: Andrew, Ben & Justin Jungers, Nic & Jenny Auchstetter, Josh Klein.
