Marlys N. Friedel, 75 years old, of Remsen and formerly of Orange City, IA, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.
There will be no services.
Marlys was born June 18, 1941, at Fort Dodge, IA, the daughter of Milton and Marcella (Bockven) Paterson. She was raised rural Fort Dodge, IA and attended country school.
She married George Friedel Sr. on April 9, 1959. The couple made their home in Storm Lake, IA where she worked at Bomgaars as a clerk and tire women. She also worked as a cook at various restraunts. Over the years they lived in Oyens, IA, LeMars, IA and Montana. George died June 9, 2000. She then moved to Orange City, IA and finally Remsen.
Marlys enjoyed caring for others, reading books and flower gardening.
Survivors include: her two son Phil (Margie) Jones of St. John, Virgin Island, Milton H. (Val) Friedel of Duncombe, IA; daughter, Frances (Bill) Cronin of Alton, IA; daughter-in-law, Glynis Friedel of Germantown, IA; her three sisters, Joyce Craig of Montana, Sharon Sells of Des Moines, IA, Sylvia (Richard) Osborne of Pomeroy, IA; brother, Ray Paterson of Dayton, IA.
