Martha Kay (Truelson) Hueser passed away on her 88th birthday, July 5th, 2026 at Harmony West Des Moines surrounded by her family and wonderful caregivers at Harmony and Suncrest Hospice.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus, IA with Pastor Kevin Roop officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument, Earnest-Johnson Chapel in Marcus, IA. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Martha was born on the farm July 5th, 1938, to Raymond and Anna (Klein) Truelson in Havelock, Iowa, about an hour after her beloved identical twin Marilyn. Martha was baptized on July 25, 1938. Martha did not know the luxury of indoor plumbing until she was in high school. She graduated from Havelock High School and then Emmetsburg community college to earn her teaching certificate. Martha started her teaching career in Marcus in 1958 at the age of 20 and continued teaching in the school district for the next 44 years. On August 1st, 1977 Martha married Thomas Hueser in Mallard, Iowa and remained married until his passing in 2007.

Martha was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus for many years. She loved singing in the choir as well as teaching midweek classes. Martha also served on the library board in Marcus for several years. Teaching students was her passion; she loved passing on her love of literature and history. The greatest love of her life however was her grandchildren. Her favorite thing was to attend their activities and rarely missed an event.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hueser; daughter, Cynthia Kass; son, Randal Hueser; twin sister, Marilyn Meyer; brother, Raymond Truelson; brothers-in-law, Virgil Botine, Jack Hueser, Rodney Meyer, and Jim Bartosh.

Martha is survived by three children, Kevin (Michelle) Hueser of Elk Point, South Dakota, Michael (Jennifer) Hueser of Hainesville, Illinois, and Matt (Becky) Hueser of Waukee, Iowa; a sister, Shirley Bartosh of Pocahontas, Iowa; brother, Roland Truelson and his wife Ann of Owatonna, Minnesota; sister in-law, Jean Hueser of Marcus, Iowa; also, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Corey (Holly) Kass and their children of St. Joseph, Missouri, Justin (Rendy) Kass and their son Braxton of Cuba, Illinois, Bryan Kass of Vancouver, Washington, Morgan (Keenan) Griffin and their daughters Marlowe and Hadley of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Jared Hueser, MD of Merriam, Kansas, Sophia Hueser of Waukee, Iowa, Lucas Hueser of Elk Point, South Dakota, Marcus Hueser of Hainesville, Illinois, Thomas Hueser of Waukee, Iowa, Jacob Hueser of Hainesville, Illinois and Avry Hueser of Hainesville, Illinois.

Casket bearers will be Marcus Hueser, Jacob Hueser, Avry Hueser, Bryan Kass, Thomas Hueser, Jared Hueser, Lucas Hueser.
