Martha Louise Wurth

Martha “Pod” Louise Wurth, age 86 of Remsen, IA, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 at Waverly, Iowa where she had the best caregiver in the world, her son Marty.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father Timothy Pick officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, there will be a parish rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 9 -9:45 a.m. at the funeral home. www.fischfh.com

Martha was born April 7, 1939 in Paducah, KY, the daughter of Herschel & Mary Louise (Luigs) Felts. She received her education at St. John’s in Paducah, Ky graduating in 1957.

On November 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Wurth at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. They first lived in Remsen before moving to the farm south of Remsen in 1962. Bill passed away May 30, 2017. Martha remained on the farm until 2019 when she moved into Remsen. She loved spending time in Paducah and visiting the grandpups.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Neptune, IA and later became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. Martha was also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. She loved baking, doing puzzles, gardening, canning and helping outside. She made beautiful quilts for family and friends. She loved her grandkids and going to all their events.

Survivors include her son, Robert Wurth of Sioux City, IA, son, Michael (Dixie) Wurth of Le Mars, IA and their children, Nicholas (Shonden) Wurth, Nicole (Chris) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Claire, Ava & Owen Schroeder; step-great-grandchildren, Ashton (Garret) Schroeder, Brooklyn (Andrew) Frederes, Peyton Frederes; step-great-great-grandchildren, Sloan, Gia and Jonzy Schroeder; son, Mark (Barbie) Wurth of Sioux City, IA and their children, Anthony Wurth and Ashley Wurth; son, Marty Wurth of Waverly, IA and his foster son, Blayke; son-in-law, Jeff Stoos of Granger, IA and his children, Jason (Missy) Stoos, Zach (ReBecca) Stoos, Cassie (Shawn) Parks; great-grandchildren, Asher, Elijah, Chesley and Lane Stoos, Rhyker & Sutton Parks; her brother, Charles “Pete” (Kathy) Felts; sister, Velma “Dee” Felts; in-laws, Steve (Doris) Wurth, Jerry Wurth, Chet (Mary Alice) Wurth, Nick (Marlene) Wurth, Wayne (Mary Joyce) Wurth, Vern (Barbara) Wurth, Russel Harding, Betty Niehus, Joyce Heidesch, Trudy Wurth; numerous nieces & nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; her husband Bill; daughter, Beverly Stoos; son, Billy Jr.; brother John (Shirley) Felts; sisters, Maggie Harding, Rose (Willard) Caraway, Francis Joanne Felts at age 4; her parents-in-law, Paschal & Mathilda Wurth; dear family friend, Lee King; in-laws, Milo Wurth, Donnie Wurth, Wayne Heidesch, Gene (Janet) Wurth, Donna Wurth.

Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Jason Stoos, Zach Stoos, Nicholas Wurth, Cassie Parks, Nicole Schroeder, Anthony Wurth and Ashley Wurth.
