Obituary

Marvin Joseph Hoffmann, 89 years old, of Hospers, IA died Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Sanford Senior Care Center in Sheldon, IA.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hospers with Father Daniel Greving officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation with family present will be 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen, IA. www.fischfh.com

Marvin was born on Aug. 11, 1937, at rural Hospers, IA, the son of Aloysius & Rose (Niichel) Hofffmann. He was raised and educated in the Hospers area. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-62. He was employed at Weinrich Trucking out of Hinton, Iowa until his retirement. He achieved the million mile award without an accident during his time there. On April 2023 he entered Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.

Marvin was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his sisters, Alice Stapenhorst of Sheldon, IA and Pat Steffes of Granville, IA; brother, James Hoffmann of Minneapolis, MN; sisters-in-law, Ruth Hoffmann of Archer, IA, and Jeanie Hoffmann of Loveland, CO; several nieces, nephews, & great-nieces & nephews

Preceded in death by, his parents, sisters, Bernice (Bob) Konz & Viola (Milton) Schmit, brothers, Wilfred J. Hoffmann, Gerald Hoffmann, Bob Hoffmann; two brothers-in-law, Don Stapenhorst, Darrel Steffes; nephew, Steven Steffes; one great-nephew, Demetri Hoffmann.
