Memorial mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with the family present will be from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen with a rosary and prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
In 1982, Michael graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School. His education served as a foundation for both his personal growth and professional endeavors.
Michael had a fulfilling career which started by working in the family business at Schorg's AMOCO station. Later on, he worked for Roder Gas & Oil. Throughout his professional life, Michael displayed dedication and loyalty in his work.
Michael was a man of many interests and enjoyed various hobbies. He had a passion for sports, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. The camaraderie he experienced while engaging in these activities brought him immense joy. Furthermore, Michael cherished quality time with his loved ones and greatly valued the bond he shared with his family. As an avid supporter of Remsen St. Mary's School and a devoted fan of the Raiders NFL Football team. Michael's spirit shone bright when it came to supporting his favorite sports teams.
Surrounded by love and support in every aspect of his, Michael touched the hearts of many. His warm smile and compassionate nature will always be remembered by those who knew him best.
Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick Schorg, his twin, John Patrick "Pat" Schorg; one sister Anita Schorg-Gruhn; as well as his grandparents Ida & Leonard Schorg and Glenn & Mary Cook; his two dogs, Tipper & Shadow.
He is survived by his parents Dennis & Janice Schorg of Remsen; two brothers, Phil Schorg (Windell Austin) and Danny (Susan) Schorg all of Omaha, NE; one sister Suzanne Schorg of Remsen; one sister-in-law, Mary Beth Schorg of Lawton, IA; one brother-in-law, Craig (Margie) Gruhn of Manning, IA; several nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
During this time of grieving, let us also remember the joy and happiness that Michael brought into our lives. His memory will forever live on in our hearts as we celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.
May we find solace in knowing that Michael Shawn Schorg is now at peace.
