Mike Schwarz, 67 of Marcus, Iowa passed away from natural causes on September 30, 2026 at his home in Marcus, Iowa.
Visitation with family present will be Monday, Oct. 5, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument, Earnest-Johnson Chapel in Marcus with Father Tim Pick officiating. On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026 a procession to lay Mike to rest at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery will start at the funeral home at 10:30 and the burial will take place at 11 a.m. Celebration of life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Marcus Community Center. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Marcus, Iowa.
Michael Thomas Schwarz was born on July 22, 1959 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Alvira (Vaske) Schwarz. He attended grade school at Gehlen Catholic Schools in Le Mars until the family moved near Marcus in 1968. He was then raised and educated in Marcus, graduating from Marcus High School in 1977 where he competed on the wrestling team. He continued his education at vocational school for carpentry.
Over the years Mike worked at Pine Grove Farm, Seablom’s and then Cedar Chemical. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening squash and watermelon. He was also an avid Rams Pro Football fan. He enjoyed talking to anyone, was know for his storytelling and would always tell you how to do it the right way.
He was a member of the Jaycees for nearly 40 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Alvira Schwarz of Marcus, IA; daughter, Jaime (Matt) Weitl of Carroll, IA; two sons, Steve Schwarz of Le Mars, IA, and Scott (Karey) Schwarz of Clive, IA; grandchildren, Kaden Weitl, Sarah Weitl and Nathen Weitl all of Carroll, IA; sisters, Ann Spooner of Spencer, IA, Mary (Nick) Koerselman of Maurice, IA, Jean Schmidt of Milford, IA and Sara (Scott) Paine of College Place, WA; brothers, John (Connie) Schwarz of Cherokee, IA, Bill (Kim) Schwarz of Cleghorn, IA and Leo (Lori) Schwarz of Marcus, IA; several nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Kelly Schwarz in 2011, father, Marvin Schwarz, brothers, Keith Schwarz and Daniel Schwarz; brothers-in-law, Byron Koerselman, Ervin Schmidt, Norman Spooner.
