Murl Tonsfeldt, 95 years old, of Granville, IA, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen with Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen. Friends may call anytime after 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Murl was born Nov. 8, 1914, at rural Remsen, IA the son of August & Mabel (Cook) Tonsfeldt. Murl was raised in the Remsen area and received his education at both rural and public school graduating from Alton High School in 1933. After graduation he farmed with his father. In 1938 he moved to California and worked for Campbell Construction and then Hughes Aircraft in the assembly plant. On January 19, 1940 he married Lillian Beelner at Madera, California. The couple moved back to the Granville area in 1944 where they farmed until his retirement from farming at the age of 85.
Murl was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Remsen.

Charles Landman, III & his wife Lynn of Peoria, IL, Murl Edward Landman & his wife Sarah of Winona, MN. 6)Great Grandchildren: Abigail, Cecilia & Nathanial Stratton, Samuel & Lillian Lowenhar, L. Charles Landman, IV; One brother, Clifford Tonsfeldt & his wife Lavonne of Remsen, IA; 2) Sisters: Marian Taylor & her husband Dale of Marcus, IA, Joyce Mercer of Fonda, IA; One Sister-in-law, Dee Tonsfeldt-Mulder & her husband Ed of Spirit Lake, IA; Several Nieces and nephews.
