Oscar Jungers, 96 of Hospers, IA died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Heritage House Nursing Home In Orange City, IA.
Funeral Sevice will be Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, IA with Rev. Paul Eisele officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Hospers, IA. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010. There will be a parish rosary at 5p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen. Oscar was born , Feb. 28, 1914, on the family farm near Hospers, IA, the son of Dominic & Rose (Gerst) Jungers. He was raised and educated in the Hospers area. After school he farmed with his family near Hospers. Oscar was very active in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and in his youth helped build the church.
On Feb. 4, 1939 he married Beatrice Klunenberg. The couple made their home on a farm near Hospers. Their son Francis “Frank” arrived into the family Nov. of 1944. Shortly after they moved onto the family farm near Hospers where they lived until he entered Heritage House Nursing Home in August 2003. Beatrice died March 22, 2009.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include: One sister Bertille Meyers of Denver, CO; One daughter-in-law Joann Jungers of Sioux Falls, SD; 1) Grandson, Kenneth Smidt of Sioux Falls, SD; 3) Great-grandchildren, Catherine Fetter and her husband Mike, Ben & AJ Smidt all of Sioux Falls, SD; 1) Great-great-granddaughter, Abgial Fetter of Sioux Falls, SD; Numerous Cousins, Nieces & Nephews.
Preceded by: his parents, One Son Francis, One brother, Everett Jungers, One sister, Adella Vortherms.
Casket Bearers will be, Steve Auchstetter, Jeff & Larry Klunenberg, Ken, Ben & AJ Smidt.
