Peter M. Konz, 79 years old, of Alton, IA, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, At Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Msgr. Roger Augustine and Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Floyd Post 200 American Legion of Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2013. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m. & a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Pete was born Nov. 21, 1933, at Alton, IA, the son of John & Theresa (Mousel) Konz. Pete was raised in the Alton area and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. He entered the US Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He then worked for John Morrel in Sioux City, IA for several years then went on to become a hog buyer in the Remsen area for various companies until he retired in 1998.
On Aug. 28, 1971 he married Delores Augustine at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA. They made their home in Alton.
Pete was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
Survivors include: his wife, Delores of Alton; five children, Lynda (Les) Gray of Overland Park, KS, David (Jodi) Konz of Caledonia, MN, Rick Konz and his fiancé Katie Forsyth of South Sioux City, NE, Lisa (Scot) Peterson of Omaha, NE, Russ (Shanna) Konz of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren, Megan King, Payton, Garrett and Braylee Konz, Carson, Caden and Ciara Gray, Olivia and Chase Peterson and Brody Konz; one sister, Margaret Lehnertz of Redmond, OR; four sisters-in-law, Agnes Konz of Alton, IA, Kay Augustine, Cleon Augustine, Clarice (Dale) Mousel; eight brothers-in-law, Msgr. Roger Augustine, Bill (Jo) Augustine, Tom (Sandy) Augustine, Wayne (Kathy) Augustine, Dick (Nancy) Augustine, Dan (Mary) Augustine and Mike (Janet) Augustine. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded by: his parents, six brothers, Melvin and Ferdinand in infancy, Robert (Bernice) Konz, Cletus (Mary) Konz, Francis and Ronald Konz; two sisters, Leola (Omar) Ricke, Viola (Ray) Krier; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Alvina Augustine; two brothers-in-law, Jerry and Ralph Augustine; sister-in-law, Roberta Augustine.
Casket Bearers will be; Mike, Jack, Dale and Brian Konz, Jerry Krier and Matt Mousel.
