Raymond was born December 24, 1941, in Pine River, MN, the son of Charles Darrel Cox and Margaret Ellen Cox (Turman). He graduated from Mound High School in 1962. He married Pearl Rose Kunkel on July 20, 1963, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA. The couple made their home in Minnesota before they moved to Westminster, CO in 1973, and then moved to Thornton, CO in 1976, where they raised their five children.

Raymond had a long successful career as a mechanic technician for (formerly) Adolph Coors from March 1973 to May 2008. He also volunteered his services at the local gun range.

After the death of his daughter, Renee, the couple adopted their grandchildren, Shane Nelson and Samantha Nelson.

Raymond is forever thankful to Virginia’s caregiver, Denise Belk, and her family for continuing to love and supportive care for his daughter.

He enjoyed family picnics and hiking in the mountains, bowling, fishing the streams, boating on the lakes, game hunting in CO and MN, family vacations, and traveling the U.S. Raymond loved a great joke, and he was a master at being a prankster. He always made friends wherever he went.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons and their spouse(s) Virginia M. Cox of Netherlands, CO; Anona R. Tase of Thornton, CO; Shane Cox of Petersburg, WV; Samantha Cox of Petersburg, WV; and Keith and Karen Cox of Federal Heights, CO; his brother, the Rev. Donald and Joylene Cox of Thornton, CO.; sister Dorothy J Pogue of Los Lunas, NM; sister-in-law Dorothy Cox of Pierre, S.D. and sister-in-law Barbara Kunkel of Moville, IA ; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; as well numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters – Julie K. Eidson (Cox) and Renee M. Nelson (Cox); brothers - James D. Cox and Marvin D. Cox; brother-in-law and best friend, Charles Pogue; and a great-granddaughter, Rae Lynn D. Lucero.

Pallbearers will be Keith Cox, Laura Davis, Brian Cox, Rebecca Lucero, Billy Pogue, and Greg Pogue.
