Renee E. Krug, age 74, of Sioux City, IA and formerly of Remsen, IA passed away surrounded by her family, on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024 at her home in Sioux City, IA.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Rev. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation with family present will be 9-10:15 a.m. on Friday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Renee E. Groepper was born May 30, 1950, in Le Mars, Iowa to Ernest and Martha (Roling) Groepper. Renee was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduating in 1968. She then attended Iowa State University at Ames for two years. On August 22nd, 1970 she married Lloyd Krug in Remsen. They made their initial home in Ames; in 1971 they moved to Remsen to take over the family farm. She began working at Happy Siesta in Remsen in February of 1980, during her employment she earned a degree as a certified nurse’s aide. After many years at Happy Siesta, Renee began working at Bavarian Meadows until 2014 when she moved to Sioux City and retired. During her retirement Renee spent many wonderful moments with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Renee was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and church Guild in Remsen and later Mater Dei Parish in Sioux City.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, being outdoors, reading and watching football, especially her beloved Iowa State Cyclones. Her most beloved treasures were her faith and family. She spent her personal and professional life caring for others. She was selfless, gracious and her door was always open. Renee was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter who would sacrifice anything for a loved one.
Survivors include; Daughters, Heidi (Stuart) Klingbeil, Teri (Derek) DuBay, Jena (Coltin) Leekley, Sons; Jeff (Jenni), Philip (Danica), Mark, Randy, and Steve as well as 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sisters; Marlene Jungers, Jean Bird, Karen Freking, Randy (Sharon) Groepper; numerous nieces and nephews and good friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; sister Patty; brothers-in-law, Leo Freking, Ed Bird, Bernard Jungers, John Walker, Roger van Fossen; sister-in-law, Linda Groepper
Serving as casket bearers are her sons Jeff, Philip, Mark, Randy, and Steve
