Robert Wittkop, 89 of LeMars, IA, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.
Robert (Bob) was born on September 6, 1927, the son of George and Elizabeth (Mack) Wittkop in rural Remsen Iowa.
Robert was married to Myrna Plueger on February 20, 1950 in Remsen, IA, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were life-long residents of Plymouth County where they raised their eight children.
Bob was a hard-working farmer and an avid fisherman. He looked forward to any opportunity to spend time in his fishing boat when time would allow him to be away from the farm. He retired from farming in 1986 which afforded him more time to pursue his passion of fishing. He was especially fond of fishing for walleye on the Missouri river in South Dakota and shared this love of fishing with a multitude of fellow anglers. He made his final fishing trip this past October, with four of his children, shortly after his 89th birthday.
