Robert Dominic Groepper, age 75, of Remsen Iowa passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022 at Sanford USD Medical Center and Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father Timothy Pick officiating, Father Tim Johnson concelebrating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa.  Visitation with family present will be 4-7p.m. on Sunday, there will be a parish rosary and vigil prayer service at 5 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.  Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.

 

Bob was born Aug. 6, 1947 at LeMars, IA the son of Alvin & Delores (Loutsch) Groepper.  He was raised and educated in Remsen and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1965.  He then attended NBT Business College in Sioux City, IA where he received his degree.  Over the years he worked at Sioux City Stock Yards, Schaafs’ Hardware, Bowman Supply Co., Sioux Valley Hog Market, City Clerk for Remsen, Supreme Packaging & TenNapel Trucking which he especially loved during harvest time.

 

On October 5, 1974 he married Vickie Phillips at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen.  The couple made their home in Remsen where they were blessed with three children.

 

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and past member of the Knights of Columbus.  Bob enjoyed RSM Hawks & SBL Warrior games, playing cards with family, casino trips with Gary, road trips to Cincinnati, attending Reds baseball games, thoroughbred racing, buying hogs and trucking.

 

Survivors include his wife Vickie of Remsen; his three children, Stacey Groepper and her son Gabe of Sioux City, IA, Shannon Groepper and her son Kadden of Remsen, IA, Ryan (Kristin) Groepper and their daughter Isabella of Cincinnati, OH;  His three sisters, Betty (Ted) Sitzmann of LeMars, IA, Sue (Jim) Peterson of Denver, CO, Linda (Steve) Harpenau of Omaha, NE; one brother, Chuck (Lana) Groepper of Remsen, IA; one brother-in-law, Todd (Sherri) Phillips of Englewood, CO.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Delores Groepper, his in laws, Wendell & Irene (Kemp) Phillips, brother-in-law, Tom Phillips.

 

Casket bearers will be the RSM Hawks Football Seniors and Gabe Groepper.

 

Honorary bearers will be Gary & Rosie Grage.
