Rose Homan

Dr. Rose M. Homan DDS, age 75, of Omaha, NE, and formerly of Remsen, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at The Heritage at Sterling Ridge in Omaha, NE. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Fr. Timothy Pick officiating and Deacon Doug Heeren assisting. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30. There will be a rosary and vigil prayer service at 5:00 p.m. all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rose was born on January 23, 1948, in Le Mars, IA, the daughter of Gerald and Armella (Pottebaum) Homan. She was raised in Remsen on the Homan Jersey Farm and received her education from Remsen St. Mary’s High School graduating in 1966; received her diploma from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, IA; her BSN and MA from the University of Iowa School of Nursing in Iowa City, IA. Rose worked as a nursing instructor at the University of Washington School of Nursing in Seattle, WA then attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry and graduated with her DDS. She completed her dental residency in New York City, followed by a career at UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, CA where she served as a faculty member, practitioner, and administrator. Upon her retirement Rose moved to Omaha, NE. She enjoyed traveling to many countries (notably Luxembourg), genealogy, planting flowers, the opera, and Broadway touring shows.

Survivors include her siblings Sr. Jeanette Homan OSF, Dubuque, IA; Richard (Betty) Homan, Remsen, IA; Donald (Laurie) Homan, Cedar Rapids, IA; Mary Homan, Phoenix, AZ; David (RaNae) Homan, Remsen, IA; Betty Klesitz, Omaha, NE; Rita Homan, Colorado Springs, CO; Susan (Tom) Gensichen, Omaha, NE; Kathy Homan, Colorado Springs, CO; Mark (Nina) Homan, Gretna, NE; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Armella Homan; and brother-in-law, Michael Klesitz.

Casket bearers will be Nick Corbin, Ben Gensichen, Craig Homan, Jeff Homan, Jeremy Homan, and Sam Homan.
