Shirley P. Heidesch, 76 years old, of Remsen, IA, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars, IA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by Catholic Order of Foresters all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Shirley was born Oct. 20, 1936, at Kingsley, IA, the daughter of Nick & Velma (Trout) Barthole. Shirley was raised in the Kingsley area and attended school in Correctionville graduating in 1955.
On Nov. 21, 1959 she married William Heidesch at Kingsley, IA. They farmed near Remsen until 1987 when they moved into Remsen because of health reasons for Bill. Bill passed away March 16, 1998. Shirley moved into Plymouth Manor in 2011 where she met many special nurses, assistants & friends.
Shirley was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, church guild & Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include; her four daughters, Sue (Dick) Sievers of Remsen, Cindy Crosbie of Burnsville, MN, Sherry (Bob) Kinney of Alton, IA, Shelly Heidesch of Remsen; 9 grandchildren, Erica (Josh) Pepper, Emily (Chris) Garcia, Dane Sievers, Dustin Sievers & special friend Jodi Langel, Ben & Nicholas Meacham, Ashley (Scott) Kinney-Bortscheller, Abbey & Zach Kinney; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pat (Jim) Woods, Peggy (Art) Poeckes both of LeMars; five sisters-in-law, Janice Barthole of Sioux City, IA, Phyllis (John) Ungs of Dubuque, IA, Holly Nolan of Omaha, NE, Mary (Gordon) Grieve of Sioux City, IA, Rosie (Gary) Grage of Kingsley; 1 brother-in-law, Lyle (Ethel) Heidesch of Remsen; numerous nieces & nephews.
Preceded by: her parents; brother, Jerry Barthole, brother-in-law, Jim Nolan, 2 nieces, Gwen Grage & Diane Hemmelman.
Casket Bearers will be: her grandsons & nephew Joe Barthole.
Honorary Bearers will be her granddaughters.
