Shirley Kathleen Krogman, age 97, of Hospers, Iowa, passed away on July 20, 2026, at Prairie View in Sanborn, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Ashton, IA with Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton, IA. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with family present. There will be a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Ashton. Services have been entrusted to the Fisch Funeral Home & Monument of Remsen www.fischfh.com
Shirley was born October 18, 1928, the daughter of Carl & Margaret (Poss) Wimmer, and raised in Melvin, Iowa. She received her education in Le Mars, Iowa, and after college returned to the Ashton area to teach. For several years she taught at a country school south of Ashton, instructing kindergarten through eighth grade. Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton.
On October 10, 1950, she married Dennis Krogman. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going fishing, playing cards, watching ball games, and dancing. She will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to family, and love of simple pleasures shared with friends.
Shirley is survived by her children, Ronald (Tammy) Krogman of Germantown, IA; Larry Krogman of Ashton, IA; Sharon Krogman of Ashton, IA and special friend Betty Schmit; Carol (Terry) Jungers of Hospers, IA; Wayne (Jeanne) Krogman of Sheldon, IA; Charlotte (Alan) Kreber of Primghar, IA; Darla Strampe and special friend John of Germantown, IA. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph Wimmer of Fairmont, MN; and sister, Pat Gaul of San Ramon, CA; along with 23 grandchildren, 54 great‑grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Susan (Dries) Wimmer; her husband Dennis; daughter, Donna Kreber and three children in infancy, Glen, Linda and Lane; grandson, Cody Krogman; granddaughter‑in‑law, Heather Krogman; two sons‑in‑law, Dennis Roos and Wayne Strampe; brother, Barney (Miggs); sisters, Joanne (Dwane Ebert, Dale Johnson) Ebert-Johnson, Rosie (Jim) Hatting; brothers-in-law, Mick Gaul; and sisters-in-law, Wilma Wimmer and Marge Wimmer.
Casket bearers will be: Shelly Mortenson, Kevin Krogman, Alan Jungers, Chad Krogman, Amber Usher, Rachael Mouw, Adam Kreber, and Dale Jungers.
Honorary bearers will be her grandkids, Nick Krogman, Philip Krogman, Janette Schipoff, Heath Krogman, Brennon Krogman, Zachery Krogman, Amy Jager, Becky Monroe, Krissa Paulsen, Steven Krogman, Sheila Vollink, Denny Roos, Ang Plagge, Wade Krogman, Renae Reekers.
