Stephen "Steve" Reistoffer, 64, of Remsen, Iowa passed away on Monday, Oct. 19, 2020 at his home in Remsen, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, IA with Father William McCarthy officiating. Masks will be required and social distancing restrictions will be followed in the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation with the family present, keeping to social distancing restrictions will be 4-6 p.m. Friday at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Steve was born March 19, 1956, to Raymond & Mary (Schreier) Reistoffer at Le Mars, IA. He attended high school in Cherokee graduating in 1977. During his childhood Steve learned the skills of hard work, faith in God, the adventures of childhood and a love of the practical joke. After leaving his job with Weatherall in 1987, Steve and his father farmed for 10 years until his father retired from farming and moved to Remsen. In 1996 Steve took a job at Pizza Ranch in Le Mars, IA. He then went on to work at Wal-Mart in Le Mars where he stayed for 17 years.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen. He loved fishing, bike riding and crocheting. He enjoyed crocheting bedspreads for any who would express and interest. Steve was a man of faith, devotion and a friend to all who knew him.
His memory will survive in the hearts and minds of his family, his mother, Mary of Remsen; Brothers, Glen Reistoffer of Paullina, IA, John (Kathy) Reistoffer of Oxnard, CA; his sister, Rose Reimert (Bill Ernst) of Obert, NE; his extended family, Kathy, Alexa and Ricky Hernandez; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond, his paternal grandparents, Leo & Cecelia (Gloden) Reistoffer, his maternal grandparents, Joe & Leonna (Gehrens) Schreier, aunts, Joann and Marlene Schreier, uncle Vernon Reistoffer.
Casket bearers will be, Glen & John Reistoffer, Kevin Pierson, Bill Ernst and anyone who wishes to help.
