Steven John Schreiner, age 62 of Le Mars, IA, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at All Saints Parish - St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars with Father Bruce Lawler officiating and Father Mark Stoll concelebrating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen, IA. Visitation with family present will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 5 p.m. and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church. Visitation will resume 1 hour before the funeral on Friday at the church. Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
Steve was born on June 2, 1961 at Le Mars, IA. He was raised on a farm near Remsen and graduated from Remsen-Union High School in 1979.
Steve followed his passion for woodworking. After high school, he dedicated a number of years to working at Remsen Lumber before moving on to work at Custom Woodworks Ltd in Sioux City, IA. Throughout his career, Steve demonstrated skill and dedication in his craft.
On June 9, 1990 he married Marie Stoll at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers, IA. They made their home in Remsen for 20 years before moving to Le Mars.
Aside from his professional endeavors, Steve found joy in various hobbies and interests. He took pleasure in woodworking projects, tending to his garden, and spending leisurely days fishing. However, nothing brought him more happiness than cherishing moments with his family and especially his beloved granddaughter Nora. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Denver Broncos fan.
Steve was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish In Le Mars, the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. His commitment to these organizations highlighted his strong sense of community and generosity.
Steve is survived by his wife Marie of Le Mars, IA; son Josh (Kirstin) Schreiner and their daughter Nora of Le Mars, IA; sister Janet (Terry) Wuebben of Crofton, NE; brothers Bill (Shannan) Schreiner of Remsen, IA and Ron (Lila) Schreiner of Sioux Center, IA; mother-in-law, Helen Stoll of Hospers, IA; two sisters-in-law, Joyce (Keith) Kellen of Alton, IA and Joan (Jim) Schmit of Hospers, IA; one brother-in-law, Duane (Nancy) Stoll of Archer, IA.
He is preceded in death by his parents John & Laura; father-in-law Norbert Stoll.
Through both his personal relationships and professional accomplishments, Steve touched the lives of many with his kind spirit and unwavering dedication. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Casket bearers will be Nick Schreiner, Michael Wuebben, Jared Stoll, Justin Schmit, Jonathan Schreiner and Brady Schreiner.
