Tarsella "Sally" Mary Probst

Tarsella “Sally” Probst,  87 years old, of Alton, IA, died Sunday, Oct 23, 2011, at Orange City Area Health Systems Hospital in Orange City, IA. 
        Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Rev. Paul Eisele officiating and Rev. Eugene Murray concelebrating.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be anytime after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.  There will be a parish rosary at 5 p.m., and vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.  Services have been entrusted to Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
        Sally was born Oct. 14, 1924, at Alton, IA, the daughter of Anton & Anna (Pick) Pottebaum.  She was raised and educated in the Alton area. She attended both rural school & St. Mary’s Academy in Alton.  After school, she did domestic housework in the Alton area.
        On Jan. 2, 1945 she married Milo Probst at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IA.  The couple made their home near Alton where they were engaged in farming.  The couple retired and moved into Alton in 1986.  Milo died Dec. 2, 2007
        Sally was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church & Rosary Society.  She enjoyed bowling & crocheting.  She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.
         Survivors include: her six children, son, Gordon & his wife Marilyn of Faribault, MN, daughter, Eileen Holzman & her husband Gary of Remsen, daughter, Claris Varenhorst & her husband Robert of LeMars, IA, daughter, Jane Hinspeter & her husband Francis of Marcus, IA, daughter, Anita Heyman & her husband Alex of Mattawan, MI, son, Keith & his wife Jennifer of Alton, IA; 21) grandchildren; 9) great-grandchildren; 4) sisters, Berdella Schuller & her husband Herb of Primghar, IA, Florence Thole of Alton, IA, Mary Ann Walker & her husband Art of Florida, Donna Rae Krogman of Sheldon, IA; 5) brothers, Ivan Pottebaum & his wife Clare of Granville, IA, Eugene Pottebaum of Rock Valley, IA, Ike Pottebaum & his wife Carol of LeMars, IA, Arlin Pottebaum & his wife Marlene of Hospers, IA, Orville Pottebaum & his wife Mary Ann of Alton, IA. 4) sisters-in-law, Doris Pottebaum of Alton, IA, Janet Pottebaum-Strouth of Orange City, IA, Betty Reker of Lismore, MN, Marilyn Probst of DesMoines, IA.  1) brother-in-law, Milo Reker of Worthington, MN.
         Preceded by: her parents;  Two sons, Joseph in infancy & Harvey, one granddaughter, Gina Hinspeter, one great-granddaughter, Amber Frederes, one sister, Bernice Block & her husband Ambrose, two brothers, Howard & Tony Pottebaum. One brother-in-law, Ray Thole.
        Casket Bearers will be; Brian, Brent & Blaine Hinspeter, Jeanette Varenhorst, Holly Schenzel, Carly Heyman, Mark, Erin & Greg Holzman, Madison Probst.
        Honorary Bearers will be her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
