Thomas Paschal Wurth, 70 years old, of Remsen, IA died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home near Remsen. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen with Rev. William McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Graveside military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 3328 & American Legion Post 220 of Remsen. Visitation will be anytime after 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011. There will be a parish rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen. Tom was born on May 3, 1940, at LeMars, IA the son of Bernie & Miranda (Krier) Wurth. He was raised in the Remsen area and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958. He attended Westmar College in LeMars for 2 years. He entered the U.S. Army National Guard on Oct. 30, 1961. He then moved to Cody, WY for 5 years. Over that time he also served at Fort Ord, CA & Fort Lewis, WA. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 21, 1966. On Sept. 28, 1963, he married Patricia Gureski at Wyoming. They lived in Wyoming for a few years then moved to Milwaukee for 4 years. In 1960 the family returned to Remsen where they were engaged in farming. He also worked for Wells Blue Bunny for 10 years. Tom retired in 2005. Tom was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church & Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include: his wife Patricia of Remsen; Two sons, Mark & his wife Tammy of Remsen, Greg of Minneapolis, MN; Two daughters & their husbands, Chris & Chuck Beldt of Sheldon, IA, LeAnn & James Campbell of Grimes, IA; Twelve grandchildren, Marisa, Tasha, Paige & Paul Wurth, Justin, James, Katie, Rebecca, Robert & Jessica Beldt, Isaiah & Emily Campbell; Two brothers, Richard Wurth & his wife Janice, James Wurth & his wife Mary Ellen all of Remsen; Three sisters, Sally Ortmann & her husband Bob of Remsen, Delores Wurth of Sioux City, IA, Rose Nielsen & her husband Dale off Britt, IA; Three brothers-in-law, Gene Gureski of Milwaukee, WI, Jim Gureski & his wife Doris of Bruce WI, Larry Gureski of Shoshoni, WY; One sister-in-law, Mary Jane Neuendank of Schofield, WI; Numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by, his parents; One brother, Robert; One grandson, Jacob Beldt; His father & mother-in-law, Tony & Ann Gureski; Three sisters-in-law, Joan White & her husband Bob, Sally & Donna Gureski; One brother-in-law, Otto Neuendank.
